The Sun Valley Music Festival presents its fifth Winter Season, featuring Mussorgsky’s beloved Pictures at an Exhibition, one of the most popular works in all classical music. It’s a piece you’ll enjoy whether you’re hearing it for the first time or the fiftieth. For these concerts, a sparkling arrangement for brass and percussion captures the power and emotion of the original. Music Director Alasdair Neale will conduct the performances, which will also feature a series of short works showcasing the beauty and range of each instrument in the brass and percussion sections. Note: repertoire will be the same for each Winter Season performance.

Opening Night: Orli Shaham and Delights & Dances

Sun Valley Pavilion 300 Dollar Rd, Sun Valley, Idaho, United States

For opening night, “brilliant pianist” Orli Shaham (The New York Times) returns to Sun Valley to perform Ravel’s beautiful and jazz-influenced Piano Concerto in G Major. Continuing the jazzy theme, the program also includes Delights & Dances, a rhythmic and soulful composition by Academy Award-nominated American composer Michael Abels. The Season opens with The Star-Spangled Banner, of course, followed by Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville.
