Sarah Paradis

Dr. Sarah Paradis is the Associate Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at Boise State University, where she is committed to shaping the next generation of musicians. Paradis earned her doctoral and master’s degrees from Indiana University, and her bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College. Her primary teachers include Peter Ellefson (Seattle Symphony), Carl Lenthe (Bavarian Opera Orchestra), M. Dee Stewart (Philadelphia Orchestra), Per Brevig (Metropolitan Opera Orchestra), and Hal Reynolds (Ithaca College).

An avid orchestral trombonist, Paradis has played with the Hawai’i Symphony, Spokane Symphony, Aspen Music Festival, Boise Philharmonic, Opera Idaho, and West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Paradis has performed at the American Trombone Workshop, the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference, the International Trombone Festival, and the International Trumpet Guild Conference. She was a prizewinner in the 2012 Susan Slaughter Solo Competition and was awarded the Trombone Fellowship at the Aspen Summer Music Festival.

An active chamber musician, Paradis tours, performs, gives master classes, and records with the Mirari Brass Quintet and Tromboteam! Trombone Quintet. As a member these groups, Paradis has performed in over 40 states and China, has been instrumental in several commission projects, and creates educational initiatives that support chamber music for young musicians. Paradis can be heard on Mirari’s two albums Spires and Renewed, Reused, Recycled, and on Last Lap, Tromboteam’s album of ten new commissioned works for trombone ensemble. Her debut solo album will release in 2024.

Paradis lives in Boise with her husband and three children. She is a Shires Performing Artist.
