Vadim Gluzman

Universally recognized among today’s top performing artists, Vadim Gluzman brings to life the glorious violinistic tradition of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Israeli violinist appears regularly with major orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, London Symphony, Orchestre de Paris, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Royal Concertgebouw. Mr. Gluzman has enjoyed collaborations with Orchestre de Paris, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, Detroit and Houston Symphony Orchestras, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, HR Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Lucerne Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, Iceland Symphony, Staatskapelle Weimar, and Orchestre National de Lyon. His festival appearances include the North Shore Chamber Music Festival in Chicago, founded by Mr. Gluzman and his wife, pianist Angela Yoffe. He has led performances with the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, where he serves as Creative Partner and Principal Guest Artist.

Mr. Gluzman’s wide repertoire embraces new music, as seen in the world premiere performances of a violin concerto by Erkki-Sven Tüür with the HR Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Joshua Roman’s Double Concerto with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, and Moritz Eggert’s “Mir mit Dir,” commissioned by the Kronberg Academy, as well as the UK premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina’s Triple Concerto with BBC Philharmonic. He has premiered other works by Sofia Gubaidulina, Giya Kancheli, Elena Firsova, Pēteris Vasks, Michael Daugherty and Lera Auerbach. One of Mr. Gluzman’s albums features the Lucerne Symphony and Angela Yoffe. Accolades for his discography include the Diapason d’Or of the Year, Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice and others.

Born in the former Soviet Union in 1973, Mr. Gluzman began violin studies at age 7. He studied with Roman Šnē in Latvia, Zakhar Bron in Russia, Yair Kless in Israel, and Arkady Fomin in Dallas, and at the Juilliard School with Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki. Mr. Gluzman enjoyed the mentorship of Isaac Stern until Stern’s passing in 2001.

Mr. Gluzman has served as Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Peabody Conservatory and taught at the Keshet Eilon International Music Center. He performs on the legendary 1690 ‘ex-Leopold Auer’ Stradivari on extended loan to him from the Stradivari Society.
