For Strings

  • Beginning group instruction in violin, viola, and cello
  • Designed to help students discover the fun and rewards of making music
  • Led by dedicated professionals with high school mentors
  • Meet twice weekly at the Community Campus from mid-October through mid-May

  • Six-week program designed for Elementary Strings students who want to continue working through the summer to keep their skills sharp

For Piano

  • Comprehensive program for beginners through advanced students
  • Includes individual instruction, group classes, and performances

Individual Instruction

  • Weekly private lessons
  • Lesson times are determined by the instructor and are 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length
  • Semi-private and group lessons help meet the needs of beginning students
  • Financial aid is available
  • Instruction takes place on Saturdays at the Community Campus or Wood River High School

Group Classes

  • Group classes are an integral part of the comprehensive program and are scheduled on Saturdays in conjunction with individual lessons
  • Classes include Music Mind Games to teach music theory, aural skills and sight reading
  • Classes may also include music history, performance preparation, and ensembles

Performances

  • Include departmental recitals, National Federation of Music Clubs Festival and Certificate of Achievement

Donors to the Sun Valley Music Festival provide support to underwrite its education programming. While group opportunities are provided free of charge, students are billed directly for private lessons (at subsidized rates).
