Become a more versatile musician—violin players can learn the basics of playing the viola (instrument provided).
Age/grade: Middle-High School students
Level: intermediate-advanced
Strings, piano, woodwind, brass, and percussion students can learn basic improvisational skills and techniques.
This course uses innovative materials to build music theory knowledge and introduces basic composition to students.
Age/grade: upper elementary-middle school students (9-13 yrs.)
Level: intermediate
Student will gain better understanding and appreciation for classical music through listening to and learning about the music and composers from the Festival season.
Age/grade: middle-high school students
Level: all abilities
Participants will gain exposure to musical traditions of cultures from around the world.
Learn basic keyboard skills, finger patterns, chord progressions, and reading in the “other clef.”
Training in musical staging, voice and dictation, and character study while performing in the ensemble for semi-staged opera scenes.
Age/grade: high school students in Chamber Singers only.

Level: upper intermediate-advanced; work samples required
Recorded work samples are recommended for intermediate and advanced students interested in upper-level group placement and are required to participate in some electives listed above.

Summer Programs, grades 2-12 for {instrument}
Through generous donor support, the Festival may underwrite many summer education program costs so everyone may participate. Scholarships cover $65 of the total registration fees. The remaining $35 goes towards student polo shirts and other materials not eligible for underwriting. Private lessons are optional and are not eligible for scholarship funds.
All scholarship information provided is held in the strictest confidence.
